The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

That ellusive thing, that mecca that I've tried to get to for 4 years now, first trax and it took a simple suggestion to make it so (capt picard would say)

We braved the crowds the day before as we were leaving we ran into a chum who said, "You need to come earlier." What? I mean I was wiping the eye boogers at 10am today! "Why?" "Because they've been letting us on the lift at 845 and the conditions are SICK (his term, I'm an old fart, awesome sounds more appropriate)."

So I tell the kids, we're making first trax, and then proceed to stay up too late watching games and two glasses of wine later......tap tap, "Mom get up, it's 630am" "WHAT! I said early, but not 630!" Kids, watch Spongebob, Mom fall back to sleep.

They drag me out of bed and with a bribe that they can eat a doughnut and RC Cola for breakfast we're actually there by 830am! There was a LINE at 830! Nothing crazy but a LINE! We didn't get first chair, I was not sacrificing the life of my first born for it, but it was a rush to be there before they open! When they did open I thought of the Who Concert when everyone rushed until an employee yelled, "Whoa, get in line!"

And the conditions, awesome! My son said he liked the "lines" no not the lines of yesterday but the courdroy! It was cool to ski the slopes before everyone else did! We got a great number of runs in before quitting it at 1230p! The longest we waited was 20 minutes and that was for me to come back from the bathroom (old fart, remember?)! An afternoon of writing later, I feel that First Trax is a pretty cool deal. Now I sit with my glass of wine, ready for tomorrow

I think!

Oh wait, this was trip report - conditions were a little slower, softer snow from the past two days, still great skiing, little ice but lots of beginners so be careful. Lines not as bad as yesterday, and watched one poor guy get taken by helicopter after getting tangled up in the trees! If you've been thinking about First Trax.....JUST put down the glass of wine the night before and DO IT!!
