The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard
The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.
We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.
We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Would be nice, but verrrrry unlikely. Thanks for the compliments, Gresh and the rest of the Bo's.

We used to ski there in the late 70's while at WCU. I remember weeknight lift tickets were only $3.00. It seems like there was another slope that came down from the top, from the pictures it looks like it came down thru the tubing run. Also was there ever a J-Bar lift that started at the top of the chairlift and went even higher on the mtn? I'm not sure if I remember that correctly. It's only been 30 some years. We really need to go over since Pink's parents live in Canton

Keith, Yes they took out the Intermediate slope and placed the tubing at the bottom of the run. You can still see where the entrance was when you get off the lift when looking to the right. With very little clearing, they could open it back up. I'm not sure about the J-bar, as it was overgrown up top but it did seem like they could get about another 25-50 feet of vert if it was cleared.

It's a shame they feel like a tube run is better then having another trail availible. But this is the SE and every dollar counts. If we could get the 2 smallest ski areas in the SE(Sapphire and THE CLOUDMONT) to do some improving, then we will have accomplished something. That and get Scaly to start skiing again. :>)
