Yawl know I love Snowshoe, it holds a special place in my heart, but it just ain't the same after being introduced to Timberline! We hit up the Inn after an AWESOME day at Timberline. Roughly 1.5hrs & 80 miles between the two. A lady in Davis said 32 to 33 to Elkins to 219 was the best route so that's the way we went. 33 was actually 4 lane 70mph for a little ways! Elkins was pretty cool, a little cell phone signal & Dairy Queen, what else could you ask for...

Anyways, we hit up the Inn hoping for some kind of sweet deal since I'm a facebook friend, but no deals unless you book through reservations & since we were only doing 1 night it was the $112 rack rate which included breakfast. Wifi at the Inn is pretty much limited to the lobby but we had a room close to the lobby hence I was able to slowly upload pics for the Timberline TR... limping along with 1 poor bar of wifi. The room was clean & had a new flat screen tv, the hot tub was hot, the shower was hot, the indoor pool was COLD, the beer was cold, the hot turkey sandwich was hot & the warm apple dumpling was off the hook!

Actually got the wife up for rope drop! Breakfast at the Inn was pretty good. The drive up to Top of the World parking lot is 10-15mins on clear roads... depending on what you get behind. The snow started off firm & fast with everything being groomed. Noon brought 47*F & full sun which was nice but made the flat spots a pain to maneuver. Even tried the skinny skis that had better wax & still couldn't keep any speed to the Soaring Eagle (long flat stretch to the lift). So we called it quits early & got a jump on the 6hr drive home. My knees couldn't take much more of fast snow, slow snow...

After skiing Timberline the day before I realized that Snowshoe is actually pretty small. The highspeed lifts & Western Territory make it stand out but having to stop to be scanned really kills the midweek 'ski right onto the lift.' & $79 for a midweek lift ticket is ridiculous! Even with the Kroger buy one get one free deal I still feel like we overpaid. Timberline was $74 for 2 tickets with no deals, but the terrain there is sooo much better. I know preaching to the choir because there were plenty of people there & plenty more to come, but worth mentioning... bring back midweek discounts! How 'bout some pretty pics:

Probably going to see a lot more of this after last weeks accident, CLOSED:

Check out that sweet grooming on Widowmaker:

A few bumps on Knot Bumper:

Sorry, no bumps on Lower Shay's... just hard pack:

The Western Territory does have some AWESOME views:

Don't get me wrong, I love teh Shoe & I'll be back, but she's been bumped to my #2 favorite SE resort...

Verizon cell coverage & 3G resumed at White Sulphur Springs, 1.5hrs down the road...

All you have to do is use the phone in the lobby during a walk in and call reservations to book it cheaper. My brother's and I stayed there last week midweek , called in a reservation from their lobby and it was about $69.

They've had a little snow here & there. Also looked like they made snow in a few places. Plenty of base. Roads were clear.
