now that i've got a good feel for the hip, i plan on working on mini rodeos on it and then (hopefully) eventually taking them to a bigger jump. hopefully before the end of the year beech makes another jump with a poppy lip!
on a side note, the lift tower was super fun all day, i love transferring off onto the quarter about 3/4ths of the way down; the jump was also really smooth again, too busy working on other stuff and forgot to get any shots on it unfortunately.
Yep that was me in the purple. Wish I had the nerve to do inverts... maybe one day! haha.

my honest opinion is that they are not as hard as people make them out to be. i think that if you can comfortably spin in a variety of ways, you most likely have the ability to flip. succesfully learning inverts only takes a couple of things:
1.) total commitment. do not under any circumstances step to an invert with anything but 100% confidence. going for it tentatively will definitely cause consequences.
2.) board control (if you can spin 3s both ways, you're probably good to go. i just think its important to have a good feel for your turning your board in a a variety of ways in the air.)
3.) a good feeling for how to stomp tricks blind. you're supposed to spot your landings on flips, but most of the time when you're learning you will be whipping them around too quickly/on smaller features and will be unable to do so. if you can land bs 1's or fs 3's comfortably (both blind landings) you should be good.
long story short, if you wanna go for it jessica, you should do it. its takes commitment and cajones, but flips (back flips especially) are one of the most fun tricks you can do. once you get that first attempt behind you without breaking yourself off, you will only get better and better. it's all about getting the feel of going upside down under your belt; it is an awesome feeling! (now ive gotta give myself this same pep talk my next day on snow for putting flips and spins together haha)

Great action man. I've had the "grab em and go" speech recently just to get in the park. Fat 31 year olds have no business in the park but I'm sure it will make me better on the mt so I've had to learn how to hit some small jumps. Baby steps!

thanks zone! and i think its very very awesome you're just starting to get into park stuff at that age, its never too late. if you're hitting features and trying to get better, then you have every bit as much of a right to any park as anyone else.
when i think about it, ive been snowboarding for a while, but i really didnt start focusing on freestyle stuff until 2-3 years ago when i realized that i needed to start spicing things up if i wanted to keep places like beech worth coming to. if you're having fun, getting better, and continuously trying new things, then you're shredding imo. that's what freestyle stuff all over the mountain is doing for me, and thats what its all about!

I've got 10 yrs on you Zone, but feel the same way. I usually look like" The Gaper of Gapers" when in the park. I just haven't had good luck lately in there. Ankle fracture w/bone chips and spurs, hyperextended knees, sprained ligaments, and other injuries. I'm just. Getting too old for this crap. Guess I'll stick to being the photog for the younguns.
Sick edit, Tom. Oh to be young again.
