It would be extremely difficult to ask for more than I got yesterday. Though I sincerely didn't want to leave, the drive back was really good after my accomplishments for the day. Before I proceed I have to thank two very important contributors to an absolutely amazing day.
Thank you, Ken, for the comped passes. Jen and I have decided to take you and Betsy for drinks sometime soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you...
Thanks also to my personal park photographer, the most beautiful Jen... she has become a whiz with a slow response Canon power shot and somehow managed to snap some perfectly timed shots of me in the park.
We begin the day as such...
Sunrise from the balcony
Interesting cloud shots from the other side of Rimfire
Jen was kind enough to drop me at the Western Territory and briefly I thought I had beaten the staff there...
The approach (no one else there for rope drop yet)
This is going to be a great day, eh?
My face when I see patrol come up the lift to drop the rope
Had to scramble because these cats are trying to poach my first tracks, but I had to get a quick shot of patrol dropping the rope...
I bombed Cupp for the first run and WAS NOT stopping for pics... I think I soared about 30 feet off of one of the rollers... this is freedom.
First chair
Next was Shay's... all of you groomheads take the time to wipe the salivation off of your keyboards.
At this point, the battery died... initially, I was bummed, but I had many runs of top-soft yet firm and fast as hell WT groomers ahead of me...
WT was definitely the best choice I could have made for my opening session.
While riding Western Express, I realized that I could go have a bloody mary at Old Spruce and ask Lawrence to let me charge the battery there. Go in Old Spruce anytime you are at 'shoe. Lawrence just opened it in December and they are really great people... good food, good people and spirits...
Lawrence
Helen, the soup queen
I did get in a few turns in the Ballhooter area before heading to Old Spruce. I found Jen, we had our bm's and after the camera recharged, we headed back out...
Everything was groomed, but there was still a lot of soft stuff on the sides
Rode some Ballhooter side fresh for a couple of runs and then headed to the park where Jen's photographic genius was initiated.
First jump
She tried to get me on the second, but from way too low... this was a stalefish but she caught me far away and descending

After this and lunch with Old Spruce again, we decided to head over to Silver Creek on our way out. The lift that dumps you into Mountaineer was not running, so we had to go up the hill a bit farther and then descend into the terrain park. As I discovered last season, NO ONE was riding the park during the day. I was the first to hit every feature I hit and this was after lunch...
First hit will be the barrel (haha, of course), but this is before I charge it
First barrel hit
Jen's barrel hit
So, Tom, Ken and Enton, look at what I saw after the barrel... perfectly set up to air to the top of it. I think if we were all there together like Saturday, we may have tried it, but I had the bad calve and didn't.
I did however, get in some of these...
First jump
Second jump
Next barrel hit, from a different angle
First jump, and I love this pic
Second jump, after I started doing 3's on it... this is not a great pic, but it's one of the front 3's I did
Jen loves linkin' park
This is how I felt about my day
We spot a deer on the side of the road on the way out, just as we did last year. We insist that this has to become a tradition...
As mentioned, I'm not sure that I could have topped that day. It would definitely have to be something of maGNARtude for it to be so.
Thanks again to Mike, SkiSoutheast and Snowshoe for the great deals. Thanks again to Ken for the passes and thanks to my Jen for the great shots.
This is my life and I love it...
