Colorado didn't get near the 60+ inches that Utah got over the last week, but we were given the consolation prize with 24" in 48 hours on Monday and Tuesday... meaning one thing. I sent an email to my boss Monday afternoon, woke up early, and headed up to ski with the regulars. We hit up Vail, which reported 10" on Monday and another 14" on Tuesday- so yes, it was going to be good. After skiing a handful of runs inbounds (which yielded about 18" of untracked, super fast and smooth turns), we headed out the gates and skied East Vail. The terrain was steep, the snow was deep, and the hits were large. Here are some pictures from the day:

Bill starts it off by hitting a small'ish 25-footer (the landing was out of the shot):

Kim hits the drops too, but also has fun in the powder on her gigantic skis. 179 Hellbents for a girl that's 5'2".

No, Jay didn't hit the tree on his way down this pillow line:

Brian goes HUGE. The takeoff was about 10 feet above where he is in this shot, and the landing is down towards the bottom of the shadows:

Knee to waist deep back there. Or more.

Another big hit by Bill- 30+ feet on this one. He landed ten feet behind where I was standing. Can you say "huck neck"?

You can see why Kim was smiling:

Narrow landing, big drop... but he stuck it. Not hard when you're landing in 4 feet of powder.

Jay likes staying on the ground, too.

Little bit better perspective of how big these drops were. The landings were tight too.

Still smiling:

Jay has fun dressed in purple. Does that make him weird?

Big.

In the immortal and wise words of the Beastie Boys, "nnnnnDROP!"

Excellent conditions and sick pics as usual. What were you using for these, the 50D?

Yup, probably your best. I think you are making a mistake if you don't try to get this one published somewhere:

I agree with EC. You should try and publish.

If anyone has any idea how (other than to just send an email to a general address), I'm all ears. I've tried in the past with no luck.
