Bluebird day, with deep powder to be found on Ballroom and Devil's Castle in the morning because they just opened. Major warming by midday.

Got a chance to check out Mineral Basin. Alta Lodge had deal for an Alta/Bird lift ticket for the same price as an Alta only. It was not the greatest snow, but good to know the lay of the land.

The achievement of the day was making it onto Castle Apron. Even better, I skied down without incident!

Snow on the roof of Alta Lodge!

More snow expected on Monday. :D
2023-24: Wolf Creek in Dec, Massanutten in Jan, Feb; GT, Big Sky; Crested Butte; Alta/Snowbird in April.

so did you make it up to the apron? That hike is a lot worse than it looks from across the way. Some of the steps had me bringing my knee to my chest, that was a few weeks ago though. I skied a castle run then I lapped Baldy chutes 3 times. Quick and easy hike for some big lines, chutes were skiing soooo nice a little chalky for the first hundred feet or so then it changed to settled pow made for excellent hucking conditions. Saw some pretty big impressive lines thrown. The aspect, slope pitch and elevation kept the snow cold all day. Yesterday was suupperr nice, deep pow might be a little bit of a stretch though ;)

Not in shape for booting up anything. My goal was to get around the cliff on the traverse off Rock-N-Roll from the Supreme side. Needed a couple breaks, but made it. Definitely worth the effort.
