Thanks a bunch. My trip to Pawley's Island this week is going to suck now.

I'd like to give you a sincere congratulations on moving somewhere that will be much, much better for skiing than where you have been. I am literally counting the days to the end of February 2012 when the new wife finds out where she is going on internship so I can get out of Dirtyham. PLEASE just don't be Columbus, OH (still better than Dirtyham I imagine).

Awesome trip! So what are your plans for a season pass out there? I know there are alot of options. BC will be solid too.

Good for you!

Congrats on the new job and move, EC! Looks like you're making a name for yourself out there already. Good for you!

So can we expect reports on some of those other peaks in the future?

I guess come winter Mt. Hood will be your inbound destination -- what are the accessible single day BC options?

Other peaks, yes, but maybe not until next spring. I'm hitting the tail end of the season (sort of, still lots of snow).

There is lots of BC potential on Hood, all within 10-20 minutes of Mt Hood Meadows, some adjacent to the resort (but they have a closed boundary policy, so no slackcountry).

Not sure I'm going to buy one. They aren't too expensive- $450-475. Would be well worth it if I could get in 8-10 days, just thinking I might tour a lot.

skiing is no longer a winter sport...well at least for some of us :).

EC- I was talking to Ben one fine pow day while riding the supreme chair about getting passes. We agreed that touring is great and we both love it, but you gotta get your vert. particularly on a powder day, and any day it's free refills. Also the peace of mind of riding a controlled area is great, especially when your touring buddies aren't available. There's a lot to be said for a day of 20k-30k vert of lift served powder. Riding the inbounds chunder and crud won't make you a worse skier either ;)

Very cool trip and an excellent report.

Are they still spinning lifts at Meadows?
