My boyfriend and I recently hiked the Roan Highlands section of the Appalachian Trail. We started at Carvers Gap and ridge hopped to the 19E crossing between Roan Mtn and Elk Park. Such a freaking GORGEOUS hike. The weather was perfect and the views were amazing. It was around 20 miles total counting a few side trails we did. If you haven't hiked this section, I suggest you do because it's awesome. Anyways, here's some pics.
The start.
Cool cloud inversion in the valley
So beautiful.
Sheep and a few goats on Jane Bald. That Great Pyrenees meant business too. He was very VERY protective!
Overmountain Shelter aka the Big Red Barn
Taking a rest and being a camera nerd.
Looking at what we're about to climb.
Hump Mtn was a BEAST. Especially with a 35lb pack!
Cool campsite on the tip top of Hump Mtn. We wanted to camp there but it was only 3pm when we got to that point, so we decided to keep walking.
Looking back at what we just conquered
Gotta hike prepared And I love my new flask!
Our lil campsite which was 20 ft from a gnarly cliff.
On to flask #2.
Checking out the view.
We made it! Tired but so glad I finally did this hike.
Never been so happy to see the Beer Wash in my entire life. Our ride was running late and we had ran out of water that morning so we decided to start walking to Roan Mtn because we were so freakin' thirsty.

I just hiked Carvers Gap to the end of Grassy Ridge Bald yesterday. It has always been one of my favorite hikes.

Looks like a good hike. We need pics of big cliff next to campsite. Is ther a place at the end of that hike to park a ride instead of having to rely on someone to show up? Would realy like to do that hike in the next month as it looks like a blast.
