The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard
The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.
We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.
We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Happy holidays to you! Your ears must have been burning because we were just talking about you a couple of weeks ago when we were on the slopes at Beech. Wondering how you had been.

Top of the mtn will finally be open this weekend... and I'll be riding a new board! One that will float me through the powder and not make me SINK haha. The amazing snowboard shop here helped me get a deal on a 2013 Burton Lipstick 154, and Dustin a 2013 Burton Barracuda 157. All my other boards are in the 48-49 range, so I'm excited to see what a little extra nose will help me accomplish off of some drops
I'll try to have pics up by Monday!
Also, random question... since it's technically not 'pre-season' anymore here, Is there a way I can edit the thread title to just 'Eaglecrest, AK Shred'? Or should I just start a new one? Or just not worry about it and keep posting here? Don't want to intrude on all the high country shred stoke TR's with a ton of different AK posts, but I know a few people will want to see the awesomeness of Alaska

I've been fine, thanks. No days on snow yet, but planning on right after Christmas, and probably teaching on weekends this season.

----sorry for the highjack ---
No affiliation, except for getting great deals from them. I saw the hatchet split package and had demoed it before, wanted to pass along a great deal.
Not in WV yet, still rotting in Raleigh... heh, for now.
Hijack Over.
I vote keep it in this thread. those of us who have been following will know it's still active. Thanks for the stoke!

Here are a few pics from today's hike. Since Eaglecrest is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we're gonna make it a point to hike up and ride one of the two days we have off. Gotta earn those turns, right?!
These are mostly scenic shots. By the time we actually started riding the sun was fading and the light was so flat that the GoPro footy just didn't look too good. The snow was kinda crusty with some occasional fluffy pow spots still lurking around. After that last storm, everything got pretty tracked up quick! These Juneau people mean business when it comes to pow days. Dustin and I got to ride our new boards today. So stoked! We both love them!
The weather was looking pretty crazy in that direction when we finally got to the top.
I don't ever want to meet Mr. Avalanche.
We hiked a different, steeper route this time. Wow were my legs burning when we got up there.
Light was fading so we started our decent.
East Bowl and East Chutes access behind me. Very fun spot on the mountain! It's not really closed
Looking back at Black Bear chair.
And of course our porcupine buddies were beside the trail to greet us on our hike. We see these two all the time.
