Yeah, that looks like a short but very dedicated avalanche path

Opening up Saturday. From what I've learned so far, since we're 99.9% dependent on natural snow, the opening date is usually around this time of year... but we'll be open till late April, with riding still prime time on up through August or later if you're willing to hike. Since it's owned by the city of Juneau, they open and close based on a budgeted time frame regardless of the amount of snow Bummer on that, but at least I'll be able to make some good turns in the middle of summer!

Nice Jess!!! It's absolutely beautiful there! I've been talking to beast about making the trip and we'll probably hawk the interwebz for some reasonably priced flights. When is closing date?
I've also seen some of the stuff that Spenser has been up to on EL. That house that they were hitting looked like fun!

That little house is at the top of the Ptarmigan lift... not really sure what it's used for other than a bonk but I'm sure I'll find out soon! If you guys can get yourselves up here, you have a place to stay! Our place is kinda small but we have a futon and plenty of floor space!
Not sure on the exact closing date off the top of my head, but it's sometime in mid to late April. Eaglecrest is famous for their spring skiing though, so there will be lots of hiking and riding even after the lifts stop turning.
Here's a lil video from our last hike:

Are you working at the resort when it opens?
When we hiked up before the snow hit and it took us a little under an hour... with snow and trekking through some deeper snow with our boards on our backs, more like an hour and a half to two hours.
Yes Dustin and I both will be instructing there this season, and hopefully next season if we find decent summer jobs and decide to stay another round, which will more than likely happen

We were the only ones that was boot packin' it. Everyone else was on splits or snowshoes. A splitboard is definitely on the top of my list of AK necessities haha. It's snowed so much since that hike that it would take us days to hike that same route now without some sort of floatation device under our feet. Splits are SO expensive though.

But you're in AK now so you can't think that way. You two should both make it the very next purchase on your list... and make it soon! Get all of AK in as much and as quickly as possible!
