Can-u-ski 2012

It was like a Yogi Berraism: it's so crowded nobody ever comes. Crowds were considerably lighter and given what Cat had to work with, the day was great. The only reason I left was I told my wife I'd be home around 4. The last couple years I've left early due to the fact that hour lift lines are only so bearable, even if it is free. The snow was nice in the morning. I was fortunate enough to snag first tracks even tho I was second chair. You could still find patches of fun stuff to ride on Rock Island Run as long as you hung to the far right or far left, however, I don't see Rock Island holding up past today.

Around 1030 as well. I never waited more than 5 or 6 minutes in the lift line.







As Forrest Gump would say "God showed up" too







These must've been some interesting park features. Here we see a group of people staring at them.







The skiing and snowboarding was great but it was a record day for staring at terrain park features. If you wanted to look at a flat box you could do so with at least 30 other people. I'm certain the feelings of camaraderie this invoked will spark friendships that last for years to come.

Also of note, conversations on the lift were especially interesting. I heard three guys discussing the merits of various steroid cycles. There was a little girl who told me she had 6 siblings with 5 different fathers but the same mom. Finally there was a guy yelling obscenities from the lift line at my chair because his buddies were able to snowboard and he was not. His bindings apparently broke on the first run down so naturally he wanted to leave, his friends had other ideas.



A very interesting time indeed. The Furman Women's Tennis team was nowhere to be found. I did manage to run into Stealth and Bronco though.

Good day today, only saw Bronco. Glad it was free and for a good cause. The next week is going to be rough on the resorts, not sure how they are going to stay open.
