The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Late decision to spend two nights in blowing rock. A short informal parking lot survey showed license plates were about equal NC and Florida, with some mix of SC and Georgia.

12/30 - APP - Night session. Not crowded. Good snow. Nice weather. Two slopes open. I had mounted new skis and wanted to try them out, and we had just driven up from teh bull city. The short quad chair broke about 6:30 and the lift line on the double went up to an incredible 2-3 minutes. Highlight was several people poking in and out of the trees on killer boilerplate. Yard sales per minute per skier density were at an all time high. Perhaps you have noticed a very steep straight cut down the skiers left of the hardcore slope - they should make that into a slope. I like App, just wish it was about 4x bigger. We stayed about two hours.

12/31 - Beech - Morning session. Not too crowded. Snow quality was surprisingly good considering the weather so far. Robbins, Star, and lower Lightning were open. When the lift line went over 5 minutes we stopped for lunch, then came back out and that was no problem again. It was a good time and a good atmosphere. I like Beech, just wish it was about 2x bigger. We stayed about 4 hours.

You don't need pictures, you know what App and Beech look like, or you can just scan the archives,

Happy New Year, yall.

trust me, you don't need no freaking pictures.

yes, the whole pagamony family adventured.

Mostly, we saw large groups from south Florida and it seemed that our high country did serve as a credible winter destination for that set. There was enough snow on the ground for some sledding, the air was mostly cold, the bars and trinket shops were busy, and one could ski if desired. Pags is softening in his old age. Pretty soon I'll be eating tapioca.

Yeah, this trip was the field test. The mounting pic was taken only about 16 hours before the baptism. The Punishers have been pased down to Walker.

The Kilowatts ski incredibly different from the Punishers, and you can infer the differences from the pictures. I think I got the hang of it, and I like them. I should post a ski test - can't remember the last one I saw on skinc.
