The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

I did dare to ride it as I figured I should use my Groupon ticket. I have my expectations and keep them real, but deep down I hope that things might be different...better. I sleep in a little and get to the hill at 9:45am, no parking issues. Was 19 degrees when I left the house and the car is saying 13 at the lot. Get my ticket and here is what greeted me.

Now I must say that this looked pretty good, some man made on top of what must be some hard pack. So at this point I was looking forward to some runs, I also realized that my cell phone was almost dead and I would be lucky to get a couple more pictures.

Riding up the quad most of the guns were going and the whales on Broadway looked like fun...I long ago gave up on the thought of a flat grooming job at the Wolf, so I enjoy the swales. I then got a shock as Lower Streak was looking like, dare I say, corduroy. As I got to the top the snow guns were blasting and the grooming was as expected. So after strapping in I made my first run of the year. The snow wasn't too bad other than a few spots of ice chunks to bump over things weren't too bad. The obsticle course nature of things made it a fun challenge. Here is a picture looking back up Viewfinder, the trail ranged from 5 to 50 ft wide depending on grooming and other issues.

Lower Streak was nice and Broadway was fun, especially jumping the whales in the middle of a snowblower, it's always exciting to not be able to see your landing.

Now my one big complaint was the 1960's era snowblowers, where they were blowing a slush was forming, and it would stop you dead in your tracks...dead. So Eagle was a no-go after one attempt.

All in all I had some fun and only having a 17 mile drive home made it better (along with $17 lift ticket). It is just sad to see that all the other big ski area in NC have figured it out, if Wolf could figure it out they would get so much more business and would probably make money. The runs are fun. Oh well, maybe this sale will happen and things will change, but until then I dare you to ride the Wolf. Here is what you will look like after jumping through the snowblowers spray.

And if my ability to download/embed the pics is poor you can see the amazing pics here.

And if that didn't work too bad.

You might want to change the security settings on that album in Picasa. I can't see any of them and that link doesn't work either.

Well the tutorial didn't seem to help me get the pics in the write-up and I did make the setting public, seems like one person saw them. Any tips on getting the pics in the body of the report?

I could see the pics using the link. And Wolf looks about like usually does whenever I've been there.

I edited it so now it works. You had the https part in the links a little messed up. Some had http://https:// in the url and one had https// (without the colon).
