The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

I hit up the morning half day at Beech today. The wind was kicking at my house, so I knew it would be rough at Beech, but I went anyway. The quad was running at about 1/3 the normal speed and to ride the lift you had to have 2 or more people due to the wind. Lower Shawneehaw was dead into the wind and I nearly came to a complete stop. So I stuck to Robbins and Southern Star for the remainder of the morning. The snowmaking was a little tough in spots due to the wind, but it made for some nice powder spots. It's been a sketchy season for grooming at Beech, but today it was terrific. The skiing was really fun, especially on Southern Star. I would imagine that Upper Southern Star and Upper White Lightning will open by this weekend.

On a side note, there was an adaptive ski clinic going on. It's pretty amazing to watch people that are wheel chair bound or have other disabilities being able to enjoy this great sport.

It was way too cold to take my gloves off for pics, so here's a nice stock photo for you.

Glad you had fun. The wind can be brutal up there.

Tonight was excellent. Frigid but the snow was perfect and there was no crowd. Nothing was groomed. There are huge mounds on Robins that are great fun. I've never seen anything like them before. I'd about guarantee that WL is open tomorrow morning. I really wanted to poach it tonight.
