So I got here monday afternoon got checked in and got my all lifties and everything for tuesday skiing. Skied all day Tuesday and had a good time. It was not bad even with the lack of snow. No lines at all. They did get 2 inches monday. They had 528 acres of their 752 open.
Today the skiing was not as good and not many people here again. The ice that was here got worse and has spread. I am taking tomorrow off to rest these muscles (it is my first ski trip of the season) and I will even hit the Grand Killington's Lodge Spa for a massage and steam room ect...
Overall Killington seems like it is larger than its 752 acres. It is spread out over 6 peaks. Getting from the left side over to the right or vis versa takes some doing though. It does have an impressive 3050 of vert. Then there is its sister mountain Pico which i did not even about until a few days ago. Same lift ticket gets you just under 2000 vert on 256 skiable acres. I hear they have great trees. I will check it out friday. The locals I talked to at lunch said it is awesome after a dump, but not to bother otherwise.
I was at breakfast this morning and one of the mountain ops guys was talking about a massive dump expected Friday. My flight is for saturday morning and that was sounding risky cause he was talking about a possible 1-2 feet!!! This would make my drive, even with the superior road clearing crews here in Vermont sketchy. Even if I do make it to Manchester NH where my flight is (110 miles away) the plane may not as they are talking blizzard conditions over the New England area. So what else to do but stay another night and partake of the storm of the season! Luckily they could accommodate me and it was no problem to push back the flight a day too.
I do have a few pics but don't bother complaining i have no idea how to post them. If I have some extra time tomorrow on my off day tomorrow I may try to figure it out again, but that did not work so well, (i.e. not at all) last year.
I will update this thread again as I now have a few more days here.

Killington
you know i read the tutorial thing last year and was still about as clueless after as I was before. Maybe I will email you some pics and you can post them. scripts and tags and htms or whatever I have no idea what any of that means. I do now how to post pictures to FB so maybe I can just upload some to the Ski SE FB page.
I have only taken a few pics so far but plan to start taking several tomorrow. The first day or two at a new place is all about the skiing and exploring and I don't wanna stop every couple of minutes, take my gloves off snap pics until I had a few days on the snow. Having said that, the site of Killington from the drive up the main access road to the ski area is really quite impressive visually. It looks bigger than i thought it would. I will definitely snap some from different vantage points tomorrow looking up from the bases and I will be taking my camera to Pico.
PS: one pic successful upload to ski southeast facebook. If Admin does not mind I will post some more there in the next few days.

so I took the day off to recoup a little and hit the spa which was pretty nice over at the Grand Killington. Got a few pictures looking up at the ski area from the base and access road which looks pretty sweet. The mountain ops team around here is just giddy. Every day they up their forecast for how much they think we will get. Today they are talking 2-3 feet possible. I am not sure if I buy that, but I hope it comes! I have never, even in all my trips out west gotten into 2+ feet of powder. It will be Epic. How is the forecast looking in the SE :p
I swapped out my sticks for a more all mountain/powder ski for the event as well. No sure how much we will get but it is supposed to start late tonight. I also made the very short (10 min) drive over to Pico ski area today, and it looks like a fun hill. They need the snow worse than Killington though. Friday Feb 8th
I woke up to 2 inches of snow and it snowed the rest of the day and its still snowing now. I would say as of 6pm we had gotten 2 more inches. The really heavy bands of snow are supposed to come in tonight.
I had a good day on the hill. It took me about half a day to get use to the all mountain/powder skis (never tried those before), but they were nice once i got use to them and the snow kept falling. I imagine those will be even nicer tomorrow! Every day I have seen at least a few people carted off the mountain and today was no exception, with more people brings more idiots who have no regard for others. I really wonder just what some people are thinking? My only fall of the day was as I was coming off a roller (not that blazing fast but not slow) and 6 idiots are all just standing across the middle of the run! I had no where to go but down
It was not as crowded as I thought it would be. I never waited more than 5 minutes for a lift except the time the sky ship gondola broke down which was about 20 minutes. There is still ice underneath in a number of spots but the new snow has already made difference. Rams head, while it has gentler terrain, seemed to be in the best shape and made for a good area for me to get used to the new sticks. I do now firmly vow to buy myself my own boots for next year and if things go well maybe some skis the following year.
Tomorrow should be epic. I hope I can make it to Pico. I will have to rely on the shuttle so we will see if they can run it.

All week I have been heading down to Wally's for breakfast (reasonable prices and good) but did not want to chance it in a rental car going down the hill as they have not plowed it and it looked pretty bad. The Grand's breakfast was a pretty big spread with just about everything you could want. All you could eat with juice and coffee for $15 was not bad and certainly worth it considering the risk I would be taking going down the hill.
Tonight I made it all of ten feet from the condo before I gave up and had to get help just to get back in the parking spot. I am not sure why Thrifty would not put good snow tires on its cars leased in the dead of winter from a New Hampshire location.
