The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

I drove up to Boone last Wed night to ski at Beech on Thursday. I'm glad I did. It was a gorgeous day in the mtns and the air remained pretty cold despite the sun and mostly clear skies . There were a few other people up there mostly on shawneehaw and robbins run; I stayed on southern star and white lightning. The snow was great, had some wind texture and icy areas but overall it was great creamy surf snow that resembled powder more than anything else.

I made 12 laps and it was well worth the drive from Athens! Ended up being easier to use skins each lap

action shots are from the last lap. The snow was better earlier in the day. My contour died after the first lap but I'll try to post it. It's a little washed out from the brightness

Yeah, we were on Shawnee at the big booter sesh, but we managed to get in a few pow and tree turns as well. You should have come over and said hello, especially considering we had a keg. It was a beautiful day for sure...

Security? This isn't sugar mtn. IMO, letting people hike up after the mtn is closed should be SOP with no trouble given to the riders. Not letting people go up would be very lame for them to do

That's cool, looks like you had a brighter and calmer day

even if it's limited vert isn't it special to get some pre- and apres season turns?

I love it, glad for everyone keeping their season going by hook or crook through kindness or luck -- or sheer determination
