The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Not many pictures a few videos of my daughter. Conditions were great it had snowed night before however they groomed it. Some areas of powder left but not many. She had a blast. She is 5 and this is her second year skiing. How do you guys think she is doing for her age?

BTW Sorry for no cool music and wind howling in background feel free to turn speakers down.

Looks to me like she is doing great. You might try to encourage her to use her turns to control her speed (turn completion) on steeper terrain instead of just kicking out a little wedge to check her speed. But my kids did basically the same thing, basically straightline with a little wedge when they started to get scared.

She did great! I've skied PNS many times. This is a blue run that has one or two decent drops. Good job!

I know she needs to turn more and used to until she figured out how to control the speed. After that she seems to want to blast down the hill. She actually turned more when I put the camera on then normal. I probably should turn off the fis downhill for a while and show her slalom video.

This season my challenging skiing is limited but rewards from her gains are worth it.

Thanks for all the good words. She is really happy on the slopes.

awesome, I wish I had gotten my sons started that young

not that you don't know this but keep staying above her at trial mergers -- fortunately things look less crowded and crazy then slopes down here.

keep having fun, I loved those times

David that was a slow day. We went on busier days and at that trail merge she was wiped out by a skier. She learned from that and does a good job merging now. The positive on that hill compared to cataloochee is that its a wider ski area not as much vert. So while the runs dont have the vertical there are two peaks and 2 quads and a triple that take you up during busy times and there are 6-7 runs down the hill to get back so not the craziness of everyone going back on same trail to get to the lift.

Some days I wish I had the vert of cataloochee and the nc ski areas and others I am glad I dont have a herd of bodies to fight through.
