I had most of a day to kill so I spent it skiing. I got up early and headed up. Otto and Franklin both were @ 1 degree when I passed through but Maggie Valley won the prize with parts of it being at 0. Kudos to them for providing the coldest temps I'd experienced since my trip to Copper last year. It warmed as I got up the mountain to a toasty 12 degrees.

Conditions were great. Lots of fresh man made powder. One of the best parts was on Alley Cat by the shed. There was man made powder all day there if you were willing to take a non-traditional route down alley cat Right now there's enough snow that you can't see the bottom of the easy triple lift from the ski school. There are some serious mounds and hopefully this will ensure their survival into March at least. The snow conditions as a whole were like the bluebird day I've experienced out west: A day that the people out west were complaining about because they don't know how good they have it; but a day out west just the same:)

Not much in the way of crowds btw....

Pics or it didn't happen right?

The valley looked like a winter wonderland

Rock Island looked good

The snow is deep enough that they put up stakes so you don't get decapitated as you go under the chair lift.

This was at the top of Upper OMG. Normally you can see the entire patrol hut

Looking down from the top of Upper OMG

This fellow was kicking it old school.

The liftline was doable. I was concerned with the consequences though which I figured ranged from getting my ticket yanked by patrol to the cops getting called. There was a MVPD officer in the lodge most of the day. Maybe they could grade it similar to this of course that would only add to the pandemonium at the top of the quad lift.

One of the most fun little spots of the mtn today,at the end of Upper Snowbird. Short, a little steep and a lot of fun.

Here's some of the day's fun. The tune is Funky Mountain Fogdown by Leftover Salmon

CAT should be able to be open well into April with the amount of snow that they have.
