The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

With a break between school and work, I loaded the family into the van and headed up to Cataloochee for a quick 24 hours. I skied Thursday night, while my wife kept our daughter at the hotel, and a half-day Frida with my little girl in the Adventure Center. We skipped Friday afternoon and opted to head to Pigeon Forge and do two days of indoor water park fun, which is really strange when you see snow out the windows while going down water slides. I dressed the same for Friday as I did for Thursday night, by 10 AM on Friday I was sweating, bad. I ended up taking multiple layers off and was sporting my yellow liner jacket, while I told everyone on here (ski together thread) I'd be wearing brown. Oops!

Edit - my days were all off

My only proof of Thursday night, below zero skiing. It was cold, so cold I couldn't take my gloves of to snap a picture. I began at 6:20 and called it quits just before closing around 945. At 8:30 I basically had the mountain to myself save around a dozen or so other crazy folks.

The next morning it takes convincing to get my daughter dressed (she's is a Southern Girl) in snow pants and jacket. I can't believe we were able to get that balaclava on her. Interestingly, we had zero problems getting her to wear ski boots or a helmet. Go figure.

L showing off her pizza move. The instructor said she did well considering she is only 4. He said there is not much turning she can pull off due to her size, she weighs a whopping 32 pounds.

Final picture of the day. L and I after her first day of skiing and my 6th.
