Been saying it for some time, and watching the mountain. If 10" fell, I was going to pooch it. Good out of of bounds with views and a bit of technical.

Gear? Old school, all the way. Mountain Design pack purchased in 1976. Koflach boots I raced and patrolled in during the late 70's early 80's - along with the Dynamic VR17 200mm skis. Yeah yeah yeah. Bringing it old style.

Elroy & Annabelle warming themselves and checking out the my good old Koflachs. Still the best boots I've ever owned.

My Dynamic VR17 200mm. Used them ski patrolling and racing in the late 70's early 80's. Great old beater skis.

18F when I walked out at 8am. It was 12F when I woke at 0600 Man hauled the gear in my Uggs up to the near ridge top

After switching gear, I was ready... Been years since I skied the old VR's and Geze bindings. Never stopped using the Scott poles.

Image

Out of the sunshine and onto the mountain trail. The old VR's just quietly tracked along. No sticks, no rocks, just snow.

Favorite dog watering hole. It's about 3-4 feet deep. Note rock work in upper corner. I'm sure there was a house or logging camp here 100 years ago or more.

Down the mountain got a little tricky. Nothing too dire, and again, plenty of snow. I lost the brake on one of my skis. It was just hanging there as I came to a stop. At the bottom of the mountain, I tossed the brake into my pack, loosened up my boots a little, and did a hard shuffle across a long field...

Image

Pretty good tracks for an old set of skis...

Image

Taking a break half way across the field. It can't all be down hill when you're urban skiing.

Image

After side slipping on US25 and traversing another couple fields of snow, I finally started up the final ridge, to glide to home sweet home...

Image

Not a bad morning out on an old set of skis. A little adventure, a beautiful crisp clear morning, and not a single lift line!

I used to live in sky loft apartments. This little video was taken behind the furthest building on the right near your "pretty good tracks" photo. https://www.instagram.com/p/kYSzYJkfyjg ... F4w_17RQ0/

Just walked it again with the pooches; it's tempting to do it again. A little slush here and there though.

And to top it off, it's starting to rain (and freeze on the ground). Hmmm.

Unemployment has it's moments...
