The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Seems like a good problem to have.

I nominate this as best TR of 2012-13 season! Includes so much...family, injury, blues to heli...and major props to pushing your skill. I think most of us post the good shots and details, leaving the oops out. Look forward to the video. Can you share how you planned the trip....travel agent, dyi, mix?

Check the web site... It's pricey but not as bad as I thought...

It's the getting there and back that is the pricey part. W-B accomodations and skiing wise are fairly reasonable. Saved a lot of $$$ flying SW into Seattle and driving rather than flying into Vancouver, it adds 2-3 hours onto the drive though.

On the plus side, the Sea-to-Sky hwy in Canada is about the most picturesque road I can think of.

Once the docs give me a dx on my shoulder, we should plan a trip to the indoor climbing gym, the an outdoor climb up at pilot at least. Just need to add new adventures to the list.

Yeah, this was my second trip there. The first time I called Amex travel services, this time I went direct. I called the main Whistler number and booked lift passes, lessons, rentals (we brought our boots and snow boards but rented skiis since our skiis are too narrow for serious west coast skiing) heliskiing, airfare and the car service through them.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific since they really nice two bedroom suites that sleep 6 in a great location at a relatively reasonable price. We stayed there last year as well. I booked them directly. They had a prepay discount that was pretty good. I had the hotel make dinner reservations for us about a month before the trip and we had our choice of restaurants and times. Last year that part was actually pretty stressful, we tried to make dinner reservations each day and everyplace was booked.

The travel agent last year was pushing the Fairmont or the Westin -- they are beautiful hotels, but they are more expensive and you just get standard hotel rooms. We found out about the Pan Pacific on one of thentravel websites - I think it was tripadvisor.

We booked the whole thing in August to take advantage of early booking discounts - since we have to go during peak season due to kid's school schedules we'll take any discounts we can get :)
