The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard
The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.
We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.
We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Now that Moonlight Basin is owned by Big Sky, my guess is that more people may go over there to check it out. Assuming they stay for a week. Big Sky is so big and has so many options regardless of conditions, if less than a week then it's hard to justify going elsewhere. May take a few years, but I'll definitely go back up that way again.
2023-24: Wolf Creek in Dec, Massanutten in Jan, Feb; GT, Big Sky; Crested Butte; Alta/Snowbird in April.

Big Sky/Moonlight sucked so bad when I was there, I doubt I will ever go back. It's so hard to get there, and conditions can be so variable why take the chance if you don't have unlimited time and $$$?
Potential is there but I'm dubious about my money into another trip there.

No one is insisting you go there. I'm not the one who bumped my TR.
My first time at Big Sky was a low snow year and my friends and I were there in Feb. I still had plenty of fun. But then I'm not looking for steeps. There was plenty of snow on Andesite Mtn. Took a little more work to get around the top of Liberty and over to the nice bump run off the Challenger chair mentioned by the Mountain Host but well worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Big Sky and Bridger as a place to go for someone who wanted to get away from the crowds that can be found in Colorado and Utah at times. Of course, if they are on a tight budget that's another story.
Combining a few days at Bridger with a few days at Big Sky staying at Bucks T4 is not necessarily that much more expensive than some popular ski destinations. Any time I get near Bozeman, I'm going to ski at Bridger.
