a little foggy this morning in here.
Yesterday morning, we drove from Waynesboro to Wintergreen on VA 6, which snakes down the pass,. All the switchbacks were covered by ice and the minivan had no problem. go slow, don't brake on ice. In general, VA 6 and VA 151 are on the wrong side of the blue ridge so weather trouble on the roads is rare. beautiful country drive.
We're at the inlaws right now which is in the middle of nowhere VA, so about all I had going on late yesterday was bowl games, surfing the interwebz & harassing their terrier... after I posted I thought the same thing though, lol... nice quiet New Years! Original plans were to be in Asheville with a side trip to Cat, but Christmas plans got changed, so here we are in VA now... the things we do for family
Yeah, I figured the roads may have been dicy early. I couldn't get anyone on the phone at WTG & their online report was wintery mix/rain/ice, so we decided to sleep in & hit WTG another non-holiday. Roads were clear & dry by 1pm with temps pushing 40*F.

well happy new years anyway !
To our surprise, Thursday was a lot better than Wednesday, fairer weather, less snowmaking, and no lines on acorn or highlands. There were longer lines for the tubing.
we've got to do the ski and tee deal in March.

I trying to decide now rather I should reserve a hotel room online or if I would maybe come out better looking for a little hole in wall motel along the way Monday (one of those that arn't found online or don't have a website)?
I have a 10% discount code I can use for motel 6 in Harrisonburg VA so I'm thinking that should get me a room for @$40 all taxes included and then there's the Budget Inn in Waynesboro for @$40 but they don't have a website where you can book online so I guess I'd have to call them.
What do you think. Book online in advance or walk in and book at the counter?

We just walked up to the Motel 6 in Harrisonburg. I'd probably stay there again since it's right there before getting back on the interstate. If staying in Waynesboro you'll have to get off of the interstate. Either should work, if plans have some flex then I usually don't like to book anything in case something changes. Like I'm glad I didn't buy WTG tix early at the ski shop since we didn't end up going this trip. And glad I didn't book Waynesboro since Harrisonburg was right there and I didn't have to go looking for it.
