The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Thought I would piggyback a little TR here since N AL skier already had one going....

SkiCop, k2jizzle, the womens and myself piled into the F250 and made the quick (4 hr) drive to Ober on Saturday for the evening sesh. I ignored the lot full sign and flashing lights at the bottom of the mountain and headed for the top lot. A minor snafu was narrowly avoided on the way up. As we made our way up to the first hard switch back a semi with a 53' trailer was just getting winched off of the guardrail. We waited about 5 minutes then was on our way again. We rolled up to the gate and snagged a spot in the top lot....score! We met up with Zeus a short time later.

After a quick trip in for lifties we were on the snow by 2:30. The rest of the evening was a combination of no lift lines, good snow, cold temps, occasional snow showers, and hamme breaks.

Saturday was my time on skis since 05, I think....and my first full day only skiing in about 9 or 10 years. I felt like a fish out of water for a little while. I was tempted to go get the board out of truck a few times, but decided to stay on skis. I could have made it a little easier on myself if I had chosen some shorter/skinnier skis from the quiver, but I decided to just ski the Bros instead. They, however, don't like the ice (Grizzly) and hardpack (Mogul) very much. I only had 2 falls all night, both on Mogul, so I was pretty stoked to be back on 2 planks.

Yeah, it was really crowded.

Zeus was on the Loose.

I intended on taking some more pics, but the 16 deg temp changed my mind. After getting frostbitten fingers last weekend at a dirtbike race I wasn't too interested in doing that again.

We stayed until they closed, then headed home. We made a quick stop at McD's which involved some chick inadvertently throwing her car keys onto the roof while trying to knock down an icicle and some equipment shorting out while sending sparks flying over the counter and into the floor....only in TN.
