The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

I finally got around to getting my pics off the camera and writing a report so here goes.



I got up Sunday morning at 5 am to leave charlotte to head to banner elk, nc to get some powder action. I was thinking an extra hour to get there because i figured there would be some snow on the roads but i was wrong. As of 7:30ish boone looked like this:





Driving up there was easy and we arrived to a not suprisingly full parking lot. I went up there this weekend with my mom to teach her to ski. So for the first two hours of the day, I was on the bunny slopes. I split up with her as soon as she knew how to start, stop, get up when she fell, and get on and off the lift. I then headed for the top of the mountain, which was just getting slammed with powder. Is it ok to describe last weekends condtions as bomber gresham and snowbird?

Most the powder up there was pressed like hash due to the sheer amounts of people that were there saturday and sunday. My mom rented her gear from alpine at the base of the mountain, and i was talking to a shop worker while I waited and he said on saturday they sold something like 8600 lift tickets on Saturday. Apparently they were turning people away at the entrance to the lot down by the main road because there was simply no where to park. I could not confirm this due to the language barrier between myself and the parking attendants. Later when I did find an attendant who seemed to speak english, the intelligence barrier was what held me back. For when I asked him whether they actually turned away cars in the parking lot that day, he responded like a spitting image of the cop scene in meet the fockers. "Sir puhlease move your vee-hick-cull at once from the roooadway." He didn't even seem to hear my question when I asked him again quite politely. I figured they just told him to stand there and say that cause he wasn't directing traffic, there was no intersection where he was, just a set of stairs.

Here's a shot of me on the lift. My face was numb when I took this and I didn't even realize I had water droplets, but i will include it so incase any of you saw me you will know who i am. And it looks rediculous:





As skiingrules mentioned, why the hell were the snow guns on?!?! I had ice face all day long cause of those things. I mean come on. 12" of freshies, and they had to ruin it by running those loud ass beasts all day, spraying every guest in the face on one of the most crowded weekends all year. WAY TO GO SUGAR!!!! Woo!



Sugar Slalom was the funkiest all day long and winner of my best bet of the day. They had some sort of race on it earlier, that left some unpacked powdered areas and some rather large jumps that didnt have snowboarders camped out in front of them. I haven't ever really gotten air like I did that day, and I gotta say, i need practice, but larger jumps are in my future. Here's some pics from up that way:







Overall I give it a 8/10.

Which Sony camera you got? I have the T7. It's tiny and pretty fly, but due to being tiny and fly, the battery is tiny and fly, and I only get about 80 minutes of pic time.

yea the snowguns were totaly ridiculus, sugar slalmo did have good snow all day,did u hit the woods between uper flying mile and s.slalom?they were really nice, but really tight.i watched a couple of runs from the race, i think it was a spcial olympics race. u were there sunday right? too bad i didnt see you or know u were gonna be up there i would have looked for you
