After a quiet christmas at home, we drove Christmas Day to meet with ALL my family in Webster (Slyva's more cosmopolitan cousin)

The wet snow was stacking on the highway from Winston on and drivers were behaving like drunk spaniels

But we got there

and the slopes beckon

and I got first descent

Park construction commenced

And then a new day

Dogs are already eager to help

So I went off to do my stuff, highlights were slim

My 10 yr old nephew rode one half day last year and I've really wanted to help him out. My sister found a great program thru Jackson Co. parks and rec-- 5 days with lessons at Cat for under $200

I bought a nice used board from Bronco Boarder and my dad and I got the rest of his gear together. So he was set and ecstatic about having his own gear

My oldest son took time out to build a small jump and do a li8ttle coaching

Young cousins look up to the older guys. It's a great thing-- and the three of us hit Cataloochhe as well

But anyway, the boys kept building and that night they ghot serious -- two jumps and a rail ( a 2x6 buried on edge)

and then there was the rail

So good you had to post it twice :-). Well, you have your own ski hill now, when does the rope tow go up? How about the bar? Nice work in progress.

So let me add the Wed. morning at cataloochee. Oldest son and nephewgot there at 8;30 and it was already a madhouse. At the window I asked for morning half-days and was told they only do afternoon -- I was firm that we'd driven out based on the web site's information and she relented which was cool of her. The park remained mysteriously closed for two hours but ult. Aaron got his jumps in.

Fortunately we all had our gear -- to my nephews continued glee.

He was struggling at first but improved quickly

he should rock in a couple of months

And I look forward to many runs with him in the future
