I had been planning to come to the Cat this Friday rain or shine, warm or cold.
Chances were it would be cold given the time of year and upon arriving It was -8 degrees... so yeah I got cold.
It hasn't gotten above freezing in a while there and that led to some AMAZING conditions. The man-made powder was awesome and I did not find an icy spot anywhere on the mountain due to the amount of snow they have been able to make without it melting, and re-freezing. Add in a total lack of wind Friday and it was perfect. As expected the lines weren't bad at throughout the day.
I spend a lot of time in the Terrain park and it did not disappoint. they had plenty of rails out and the rainbow box and flat box out between turkey trot and easy way. They added 2 more rails in the afternoon as my day was winding down. So in conclusion get to Cataloochee as soon as possible!

The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard
