For those of you who end up with the opportunity to ski in the northeast this season, there is a new source for information. The forum is Northeast Mountain Sports, which was set up by a mountain meteorologist in the Boston area who skis 70+ days a season, mostly day trips.

There are ongoing threads for the mountains that are more popular with the regulars, such as Jay or Wildcat.

It is definitely picking up from the loss of Epic, not that that's a bad thing.

A lot of information and very active, Weatherman's resort guides are outstanding

Actually, my understanding is that NMS is a reaction to what's happened on Alpine Zone in the last few years. Alpine Zone is/was a regional ski forum for the northeast.

However, Weatherman was active on EpicSki so he probably noticed how the annual regional threads were working in the last few years. I had something to do with that evolution as a Moderator because I like to travel and am curious about more than just skiing in Utah and Colorado.

Now that ski season has started in the northeast, the weekly weather blog entries by Weatherman are good reading for any weather geek. NMS combines weather info with first-hand reports from the ski areas that are favorites with folks with ski bum thinking who happen to have day jobs in the Boston area or elsewhere in MA/NH/VT.
